Chaorite and Silver Necklace

$50.00

Stunning Chaorite cabochon wrapped in silver on a silver chain.

Charoite, or lilac stone, is a rare silicate mineral discovered in the late 1940s and named after the Chara River in eastern Siberia, Russia. Though known earlier, it did not reach the market until 1978 with the help of Russian geologists, partly because its raw form looked dull.

In raw form, charoite is opaque and lacks the milky, fibrous sheen revealed when polished. Its color ranges from deep purple to lilac pink and it often contains white quartz and black manganese inclusions.
